The Dumbing Down of Love came about through a collaboration between director Joel Peissig and myself. Joel originally approached Method with an intriguing visual concept - an image composed entirely of ellipses. I was tasked with interpreting that idea applied to motion. The result was created using custom software and algorithms designed for the purpose. The process began with a traditional music video workflow. Joel shot footage of Imogen Heap in the style of a classic performance video and then provided me with a final cut. From there I set to work, applying the software to Joel's footage and hand-tuning each shot using a combination of roughly 20 parameters to create the final piece.
